What an experience this was for all of us. A baby buffalo was turned the wrong way in her mothers womb. As a result, the local veternarian was called in along with someone with a dart gun. After the birth I was allowed in the barn with Georgia, the owner. We kept rubbing and prodding the little baby buffalo. It was drugged just like mama from the stun gun. The rest of the FOL group was allowed to join us and we were all loving this little newborn one. Someone said "what is her name". As if by magic I popped up with "Miracle". Everyone agreed and I started crooning Miracle, Miracle over and over again. That afternoon mama accepted the little one. The class was allowed to ride out to the buffalo range the following day where they saw Miracle doing quite well in her new life.
On Sunday, the last day of the Flower of Life Workshop, Georgia took me out to the buffalo range where we witnessed the birth of two baby buffalo. I then spotted Miracle. We pulled the car up and stopped. I started crooning Miracle, Miracle. She started sniffing and then snorting. She recognized my scent and voice along with her name and spoke back to me. Tears of joy falling on my cheeks again! I will never forget this sacred experience as long as I live. Each year I will look forward to returning to see my buffalo friend, Miracle. Georgia tells me she is fat and thriving. See my calendar of events for this years FOL workshop at the buffalo ranch. 2006 dates are April 21, 22 & 23. |
